🚀 March 2025 Product Updates
March 31, 2025
Here are the latest runQL product updates. We continue to refine the IDE while expanding out the Natural Language based Self-Serve for Business Users.
🔥 Natural Language Self-Serve for Business Users
- Business answers is a self-serve analytics tool where business users can ask natural language questions to get insights. This reduces the burden on the data team and gives business users instant access to insights they need. We use our automated Business Layer along with existing queries, Vector and AI to enable this.
- Suggested Query Speed – When an Analyst needs to review a request from the business user, we now generate suggested queries faster.
- Improved Query Suggestions & Re-Ranking – In comparison with our competitors we provide better coverage for answers beyond a defined metrics layer alone, with far less work for the organization.
- AI Driven Questions – AI driven follow up questions to clarify a business user's requests has been improved.
- Internal messaging – Sometimes when a request comes in multiple data analysts may need to message each other in the same thread. Internal messaging allows them to do this without burdening the business user with messages that are not applicable to them.
- Reinforced Learning from Human Feedback – Both business analysts and business users can thumbs up and down provided answers, feeding that back into our system to learn.
- Inbox UI Updates – We've updated the inbox for data analysts and added keyboard shortcuts.
🔥 runQL IDE
- Schema Level Descriptions – We've now added another Business Layer type at the Schema Level. We generate the description of the whole schema, which is editable by the data analyst. This helps with better query generation, documentation and suggestions for both Data Analysts and business users.
- Editor improvements – We've improved auto-complete, keyboard shortcuts, and formatting for both SQL and Python.
- Query Optimization – We've improved the diff comparison, execution plan comparison, and the documentation when optimizing a query for performance for all of your database types. Query optimization makes your IT and/or data infrastructure team very happy.
- Query Review Pages – Certified Queries and Schema Change Resolution only show one item at a time now, reducing the noise when working with these items.
- Users & Data Sources in Workspaces – We now made it more obvious for adding users and attaching data sources in a workspace.
- AI Prompt Updates – We've updated the prompts and request handling for optimizing queries, analyst descriptions, and comments, to ensure consistency.
